Bacon adds that showing ourselves some compassion is critical right now. “Figuring out how best to take care of yourself is hard, and I think it’s important to lay off making judgments about how each of us as an individual makes that choice,” they explain. “If someone is overwhelmed and food comforts them, eating may be a great form of self-care. I wish for them the ability to be kind to themselves and not heap on the judgment that they’re ‘bad’ for making that choice, to view any potential weight gain as their body adjusting to new circumstances, and to be grateful for their resilience; after all, they found a way to get through a difficult time.”
