“Scales are not a precise, singular way to inventory your health, and they can be detrimental if you get too numbers-crazy. I asked Professor Linda Bacon, a nutrition professor at City College of San Francisco and author of “Health at Every Size: The Surprising Truth About Your Weight.” She said, “Don’t look for any measurements based on weight, size, body fat, which are more about physical appearance, give us little or no health info, and are less controllable than most people think.” To put it more plainly, she said, “I don’t think anyone who supports weight as a valuable measurement tool is reputable.””
